Do you find yourself climbing the corporate ladder, meanwhile clinging to the power and status your position enables? If you are only a positional leader, it’s likely that you derive your authority and influence solely from the title you attained. But this is no influence at all. People probably won’t follow you further than the end of their job description because your status doesn’t command their respect – your behavior does. To inspire people and influence real action, ask how you can help them and stop telling them how they can help you.
